MTV reveals nominations for 25th Annual MTV Movie Awards with Star Wars: The Force Awakens receiving 11 nominations

Yesterday MTV revealed the nominees for this year’s MTV Movie Awards. Being its 25th year, this will be an opportunity for fans to celebrate and recognise blockbuster movies which have received critical acclaim. Titles such as Avengers: Age of Ultron, Creed, Deadpool, Jurassic World, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Straight Outta Compton have been nominated for ‘Movie of The Year’ with Star Wars: The Force Awakens getting the most nominations for a franchise.

The 2016 MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart. It will premiere on Monday, 11th April at 10am, Pre-show from 9.30am, on MTV and MTV Music.

“What has always been so cool about the MTV Movie Awards is that it’s about blockbuster movies that audiences line up to see; comedies, superheroes, science fiction, fantasy, action,” said Casey Patterson, Executive Producer. “This show is about fandom and the stars come out to celebrate that. The nominees and the content are naturally diverse and eclectic because we’re a true reflection of real movie-going audience.”

This year the MTV Movie Awards are also introducing two new categories that celebrate authentic narratives – ‘True Story’ and ‘Documentary’.
