Some fantasy worlds are built on dragons or kingdoms. Children of Blood and Bone is built on something far more powerful: a story of identity, oppression and the fight to reclaim what was stolen.
The first trailer for Gina Prince-Bythewood‘s adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi‘s bestselling novel has arrived, and it’s every bit as ambitious as fans were hoping. Visually breathtaking and emotionally charged, the footage teases a sweeping fantasy epic that blends spectacular magic with deeply personal stakes, as siblings Zélie and Tzain join forces with unlikely allies to challenge a ruthless monarchy determined to keep magic buried forever.
Leading the cast is Thuso Mbedu alongside Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg and Tosin Cole, with an astonishing supporting ensemble that includes Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba and Viola Davis.
Adding another layer of excitement, the trailer debuts original music from GRAMMY Award winners Tems and Burna Boy, with Tems serving as executive music producer on the soundtrack and Burna Boy joining the project as executive music consultant. The result gives the film an unmistakable energy and cultural identity that already feels unlike anything else in the fantasy genre.
Children of Blood and Bone is scheduled for release in Australian theatres on January 14th, 2027.
