Exclusive Single Premiere: Jollee “199” (2026)

Jollee 199

Gold Coast band Jollee are back with “199”, and we’re premiering it here on the AU review ahead of its release on Friday, 6th November.

It’s a powerful piece of indie rock, driven by big riffs and jagged guitars, but there’s a vulnerability running alongside all that force. The song is about giving your heart to someone else, and for lead vocalist Brooke Mowett, it’s also about knowing when you’ve given enough.

“It’s about the courage to love wholeheartedly, while recognising that healthy relationships require both giving and receiving,” she explains. “Sometimes the greatest lesson is realising that you can’t keep pouring from an empty cup—and that protecting your own heart is an act of self-respect.”

“199” is the first single from the band’s upcoming EP Homewrecker, due in February 2027. They recorded the track at Love Street Studios with Scott French, who also mixed it, while Paul Blakey (Xavier Rudd, The Dreggs, PNAU) handled mastering. A successful crowdfunding campaign means the EP will also be pressed to vinyl.

Jollee began in late 2017 as Brooke’s solo project, expanding into a full band two years later. The current lineup, completed by Michael Carter, Baidon Howell and Jacko Thomson, settled in 2024, and the band describe it as their strongest and most cohesive yet. “We are, and always will be, unapologetically ourselves in full rock-dork form,” they say.

They’ve already shared stages with The Preatures, Killing Heidi, Wolfmother and Frenzal Rhomb, and an Australian tour is on the way for February and March next year. Jollee have shown that you can be strong, bold and vulnerable all at once, and with Brooke Mowett’s killer voice up front, they’re a band you absolutely must seek out on the live circuit.
