LA-based experimental producer and singer Dolly Spectra is about to release her latest song, “Look Me In The Eye” and we are thrilled to have the first listen of this futuristic tune. This follows on from her previous release and video, “Whatcha Gonna Do”.
The opening of “Look Me In The Eye” reminds me of Prince, in all his funky glory. It then shifts into current times with some Charlie XCX vibes and has some recurring hooks that keep you fully onboard to the end. Dolly Spectra is an innovative artist, going beyond simple bedroom synths and floating vocals, instead, she is looking to create the sounds of the future. She has been inspired by some iconic artists, past and present, and created her own colourful futuristic soundscape.
Dolly gives us some background to the track; “‘Look Me In The Eye’ is a song for all the shy folks out there, the wallflowers, and even those who may seem extroverted but play it safe to avoid the uncomfortable.”
