Ghost in the Shell releases a series of bizarre teaser trailers, but is the Reddit fan-made trailer better?

The DreamWorks/Paramount Pictures Co-production, Ghost in the Shell, starring Scarlett Johansson, has offered up a series of new 10-15 second trailers. While intriguing, these five separate short snippets are extremely difficult to digest.

Hollywood’s live action remake of the popular Japanese manga series Ghost in the Shell follows Major (Scarlett Johansson), a cyborg police woman who is on a mission to bring down a computer hacker, known in the original 1995 film as the Puppet Master.

While the teaser trailers give fans a short preview of what is in store in terms of costume and cinematography, the film’s plot Is still left in the dark.

Each of the five teasers open and end with a slightly jarring computer-glitch style edit. The edit cuts down the run-time on the already short previews, and makes the impractical viewing experience even more difficult for fans to watch.

Reddit user ‘teagone’ decided to rectify this by putting together a fan made edit that mashes each of the trailers together with some creative editing. The edit utilises music from the 1995 animated film, and has already received over 500 comments from enthusiastic fans. Is it the better cut? We’ll let you be the judge.

Ghost in the Shell is in cinemas 30th March 2017
