Five movie trailers you may have missed over the holidays

While Australian holiday season isn’t prime time for movie releases, that doesn’t stop us from catching a bunch of awesome trailers of films to look forward to! So in case you missed them, let’s cover the top 5 trailers you may have missed over December and the start of January.

5. Sicario 2: Soldado (2018)

Director Denis Villeneuve may have gotten global critical acclaim for his work on Blade Runner 2049, but his 2015 action-thriller Sicario was a fantastic film in its own right. Sicario 2: Soldado sees actor Benicio del Toro return to the series, amongst a crazy plot to take down a notorious drug  cartel by any means necessary. Sicario 2: Soldado hits theatres sometime in mid 2018.

4. Ocean’s 8 (2018)

The Ocean’s series has indeed returned, albeit with a fresh twist. While there are only 8 this time around, Sandra Bullock leads and all star female cast in Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter, as the gang attempt a 150 million dollar necklace right off the neck of a very famous celebrity. While the film tugs at a few comedy strings, there’s no doubt Ocean’s 8 looks to bring the fun ( and danger) with it. Ocean’s 8 will hit theatres mid 2018.

3. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Yet another Spider-Man film is set to grace the silver screen, in an all new animated feature. The film appears to centre around fan favourite Spidey Miles Morales, as the trailer packs gorgeous visuals, and promises to take us to a universe where more than one wears the mask. Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse is set to hit theatres Christmas 2018.

2. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

The Jurassic World franchise is back again with Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom, and I understand what you’re thinking; how many times can we mess up this whole dinosaur thing?! However, The Fallen Kingdom manages to shake up the formula, as the dinosaurs are in need of a rescue this time. Chris Pratt returns in what is sure to be a thrill ride of monstrous proportions. Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom hits theatres 22 June, 2018.

1. Ready Player One (2018)

December brought with it the first official trailer for Ready Player One, and boy was it worth the wait. What can only be explained as a giant homage to 80’s pop culture and gaming, Ready Player One centres around the giant virtual reality world of Oasis, in which player and protagonist Wade Watts set off on an epic race to find a hidden treasure left inside the game by its late creator. Ready Player One hits theatres 30 March, 2018.
