Tour Talk: Busabout launches “design your own trip” booking platform

Busabout have just changed the way they approach their popular guided tours around Europe, launching a world-first “design your town trip” booking platform in response to a new survey suggesting 8 in 10 travellers prefer to move away from set itineraries and take control.

Titled Adventure Planner, the newly launched platform will allow travellers to design and book their own itinerary from 38 cities across 13 countries in Europe, with door-to-door Busabout coach transport between cities, on board guides, in-ride entertainment and optional (as opposed to fixed) activities.

This means anyone head out to explore Europe with Busabout is able to choose where they want to go, how long for, what they really want to do and see, and what type of lodging they prefer.

“There’s been a shift in the way Australians are travelling, creating demand for a new breed of package trip, one that strikes balance between independence and personalisation, with guided experiences and assistance”, said Duncan Robertson, Global Managing Director of Busabout. “Tourism as we know it is changing, people are seeking out more adventurous and experiential travel; for many, mass tourism is no longer sufficient”.

Being able to personalise your trip to your individual wants and needs, while still maintaining the best parts of a fixed Busabout tour, is certainly an attractive option to have. This particularly fits in well with the growing trend of “slow travel”, which has seen an increase in people of all ages wanting to spend more time in a destination to soak up the local environment and culture, as well as keep an open mind to unique and localised experiences.

Adventure Planner uses the Hop On Hop Off coach network which runs annually from May to October across Europe. Coaches depart every two days from 38 cities from pick up points at recommended accommodation partners. More information about the new platform can be found HERE.
