A sensory Fifty Shades Darker dinner is being held at Bar Machiavelli this weekend (Sydney)

Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is teaming up with Sydney’s theatrical Italian hotspot Bar Machiavelli for a one-night-only event, designed to create a unique dining experience based on Fifty Shades Darker.

Inspired by the film’s erotic themes, patrons will have the chance to dine like Anastasia and Christian Grey in a six-course degustation based on the themes of love and sensuality. The only catch is, guests won’t be able to see the food their being served, the experience is completely blindfolded with only your dinner guest able to guide the way.

With scenes from the film projected onto the space’s large warehouse walls during the dinner, each table will be decorated with flowers and candles to reflect the themes of desire which define the story.

Bespoke Fifty Shades Darker cocktails inspired by the film’s main characters; The Anastasia (Martini Vodka with Botanicals) and The Christian (Negroni Svegliato with Botanicals) will be served upon arrival before guests tuck into a menu designed by Head Chef and owner, Paola Toppi.

“We’re inspired by the film’s themes of romance and sensuality and have created a bespoke menu which epitomises Fifty Shades Darker,” said Toppi. “Sharing a meal with a close friend or partner is an intimate experience, it’s very sensual and this menu reflects that”.

Dishes planned for the night include: Trout tartare and Osetra Caviar which have often symbolised decadence and power; Oysters Rockefeller with shallot vinaigrette and champagne foam, as Oysters are known to be one of the most notorious aphrodisiacs, high in zinc and have reputation for being great for love and fertility; figs wrapped in prosciutto and Roquefort cheese will also be on the menu since they were used by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden; the fig symbolises fertility and modesty; Ravioli Bergese Quail Egg and Truffle in burnt sage butter; and Lamb with chilli and mint. To complete the evening: the ever-popular Espresso Martini served with chocolate coated strawberries, the perfect little edible red heart, and a symbol of Venus.
