Track by Track: EDIE steps into a darker electronic-pop world on Garden of Edie (2026 EP)

EDIE

Boorloo/Perth artist EDIE returns this week with her sophomore EP Garden of Edie, a dark, intoxicating and ultimately freeing electronic-pop release that captures the emotional turbulence of growing up in your twenties.

Out today, the EP draws on biblical imagery — particularly the Garden of Eden — to explore loss, betrayal, temptation, self-discovery and the moment innocence gives way to self-awareness. Across its four tracks, EDIE moves from the hopelessness of trying to save someone who refuses to change, through the confusion of staying in a toxic relationship, into the anxious spiral of obsessive thoughts, before landing on the title track’s dancefloor-ready release.

Following her 2024 EP unsaid and subsequent sharp-edged singles “Bleed” and “Girl’s Girl”, Garden of Edie finds EDIE pushing beyond her indie-pop and alt-rock foundations. We were thrilled to premiere “Fall Of Man” back in March, and hearing it now as the opening chapter of the EP gives the track even greater weight, setting the tone for a release shaped by betrayal, emotional reckoning and the slow process of letting go. Working with producer Calvin Bennett, EDIE steps confidently into a darker, bolder and more club-ready world, pairing brooding synth textures and pulsing electronic production with lyrics that feel cathartic, raw and deeply personal.

Speaking about the EP, EDIE says:

“This EP is about figuring out who I am in my 20s. Exploring a range of feelings from happiness to sadness to confusion. It’s cathartic and raw, and I hope it can resonate with someone out there!”

There’s a striking sense of transformation across the release. “Fall Of Man” opens with sparse synths and electronic drums, reflecting the exhaustion of accepting you can’t fix someone who has hurt you. “Burning” leans closer to EDIE’s indie-pop and alt-rock roots, capturing the painful limbo of knowing you deserve better but not yet changing your circumstances. “Chemical” pulls the listener into a darker electronic space, exploring anxiety, frustration and obsessive thoughts that loop through the mind. Then, on the title track, EDIE lets go of outside pressures altogether, creating a fun, freeing dance track about building a world on your own terms.

EDIE will be launching the EP at The Bird in Perth this Saturday, 6th of June. Get on down if you can and support live music. Tickets HERE.

Ahead of its release, EDIE has given us a track-by-track breakdown of Garden of Edie, which you can read while listening to the EP below.

EDIE – Garden of Edie – Track by Track

EP Overview

This EP reflects how I’ve felt growing up in my 20s. I really like biblical imagery and I thought the garden of Eden represented some key themes I wanted to explore. From loss and betrayal to beauty and the feeling of letting go.

“Fall of Man”

This song is about the hopelessness you feel after someone you love doesn’t want to change or put in any effort to change. It’s that feeling of giving up on someone who’s hurt you but also accepting that you can’t fix someone.

“Burning”

Burning is the breakdown of a relationship where you don’t understand why you’re still sticking around. I knew I was being lied to and it felt off but I wouldn’t confront anything, so it’s a weird mixture of knowing you deserve better but not changing your circumstances!

“Chemical”

This song explores deeply personal ideas of feeling like there’s something chemically wrong with your brain. The anxious, frustrated and obsessive thoughts that consume your day to day and feeling like there’s something wrong with you for thinking that way!

“Garden of Edie”

The final track and title track of the EP is all about letting go of the pressures and expectations put on you! I wanted to create a fun dance track that was all about creating your own world on your own terms. It’s freeing and fun! Creating a life that you’re happy with.
