the AU Weekend Gig Guide: November 27th – November 29th

Final weekend of November! Let’s do it and do it up right. Heading into the final weeks of the year, there are some sick live shows ticking off the final weekends of 2015 in style. We take a look at some local artists who are going to be putting on some cool shows down the coast and in South Oz this weekend in particular – whether it’s an EP launch or a cheeky Sunday afternoon show, there’s some strong talent coming through.

Jesse Davidson – ADELAIDE

Jesse Davidson will be performing a hometown show off the back of the release of his eagerly anticipated EP Lizard Boy, a set that people who’d been looking forward to seeing at the recently cancelled Gorgeous Festival will be able to catch up on. Archers, Attila My Honey and the boys from Bad//Dreems (in DJ mode) will be on hand to support Davidson but let’s be real, the guy is generating much positive momentum on his own!

Show Details: Jesse plays at Jive in Adelaide on Saturday, November 28th. Grab your tickets through Moshtix.

Milwaukee Banks – MELBOURNE

Melbourne’s Milwaukee Banks are putting on a special show at Shebeen this weekend, supported by Fortunes and NYNE. Kicking off their run of shows to support the release of their latest single “Faded” and to generally hype people up for the release of their anticipated debut album (due out early 2016), Milwaukee Banks are certain to turn up for this one.

Show Details: Milwaukee Banks hit up Shebeen on Friday, November 27th. Tickets are available through HERE.

APES – SYDNEY

Ballarat lads APES have just finished a national Australian tour alongside The Darkness and are wasting no time in hitting some more stages before the end of the year. This little run of headline dates have the band sticking to the east coast this time round, but it’s going to be exciting to see what they’re going to be doing with these upcoming shows in terms of testing out what they’ve been working on during the time they’ve been off the road and applying any lessons or experiences they’ve learned from this past tour on larger stages, to their current show.

Show Details: APES play Beach Road Hotel in Bondi on Saturday, November 28th.

The Delta Riggs – ADELAIDE

The Delta Riggs were only in Adelaide last month supporting You Am I but this weekend they’re back and they’re headlining this time round. Performing at new Adelaide venue – The Fat Controller – the Melbourne boys are among the first bands to grace the former Cavern Club’s stage. No doubt, these guys are always welcome in Adelaide and their fan base in the city has only continued to grow with each tour.

Show Details: The Riggs return to Adelaide, performing at brand new venue, the Fat Controller, on November 27th. Get your tickets through Moshtix.

The Bennies – BRISBANE

The Bennies! Having toured a shitload already through 2015, the boys are continuing the good times before 2015 is out and will be coming by Brisbane’s way this weekend. Having been embraced by American crowds already this year, slaying it on the 2015 Soundwave line up and generally continuing to prove themselves as one of the country’s best new live bands – The Bennies are only just getting started, so pace yourselves kids. Or don’t. Go all in. It’s fun that way.

Show Details: The Bennies hit up the Valley in Brisbane, playing at The Zoo on Saturday, November 28th. Tickets are available through Oztix.

Swim Season

Swim Season – SYDNEY

Indie act Swim Season are a band of musos out of Melbourne we’ve been digging for a little while now (they’re also AU Live Music Award nominees this year!) and so we’re stoked to see that they’re going to be in Sydney for a gig this weekend. Saturday night will have the band showing more people what they’ve got up their sleeve – namely a killer live show that is continuing to develop more and more.

Show Details: Melbourne’s Swim Season come through The Roxbury on Saturday, November 28th. Get your tickets through Oztix.

Shelley Segal – BRISBANE

One of our favourite songwriters that we’ve been switched on to over the last year, the lovely Shelley Segal, comes to Brisbane this weekend for a Sunday afternoon show not to be missed. A charming performer who has a serious knack for crafting some classic and memorable tunes, Segal is a talent that more and more people are switching on to and rightfully so, too.

Show Details: Segal plays The Milk Factory on Sunday, November 29th. Tickets are available through Oztix.
