The sun comes out for day 2 of the Mundi Mundi Bash

By the second day of the Mundi Mundi Festival, the rain had stopped, the sun had come out and the ground started to dry out underfoot. Thousands of festival goers joined in for an iconic rendering of Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best” in what could be one of the world’s largest choir. Decked out in blue and raising money for the RFDS, it was a feel-good celebration of what the Bash is all about.

Wes Carr opened the main stage with a gentle almost country vibe that was perfect for starting the day, followed by Hot Potato Band and Wendy Matthews. The sound carries well into the food and merchandising stalls surrounding the main concert area. Community support is clearly evident, with NSW tourism, the RFDS and the School of the Air all represented.

It’s always a pleasure watching Tim Finn and today was no exception. He explained how much he loved touring and the people he meets on the road. With a song career spanning many years, he shared some old and new songs- from “A Fraction Too Much Friction” to “Six Months in a Leaky Boat” and much inbetween.

The vibe continued on a gentle healing arc with Boy & Bear. Songs are warm and refreshing – perfect for the sunny day after the torrential rains.

Legacy: 50 Years of Fleetwood Mac was a superb tribute to a band that has defined a generation.  Fanny Lumsden sand a divine version of “Dreams” with Melinda Jackson, Wes Carr and more covering songs from this iconic band.

Closing off a full day of music, Chocolate Starfish covered the Bat Out of Hell album from start to finish. What an emotional roller-coaster it was and a perfect way to end the afternoon. Of course, once the album was over, there was still time for a cover of Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain.”
