Jet City Sports Club share their top 5 classic albums to listen to when you’re on tour

Jet City Sports Club

Sydney’s Jet City Sports Club are in a rich vein of form, continuing to crank out joyfully infectious slices of indie pop. They’ve recently dropped the summer-laced “Feeling It All”, a song packed with emotion and a triumphant lush chorus.

It has a poppier feel than their earlier tracks, but it’s done oh so well. With slick production, it’s a breezy number that tugs the heartstrings. The band has again engaged Fletcher Matthews (Clews, Sweater Curse) to help with production, and George Georgiadis (Debbies, The VANNS) performed mastering duties.

About the track, the band writes:  “Feeling it all is a song about the emotional rollercoaster of missing somebody that you love. Sometimes when you’re missing somebody is when you love them the most and that’s what makes being apart so difficult. Not to mention all the other emotional turmoil of life in general, it can be beautiful, poetic but also a little bit sad especially when you’re feeling everything so deeply and personally. Feeling it all is a little bit of a different direction for us musically, leaning more towards pop, and we are nervous yet very excited about the change.”

The band still has a few live shows lined up in NSW before the year ends, so do catch them if you can. I have the feeling that seeing them in small intimate spaces won’t be so easy to manage before too long. The dates are below.

To celebrate the release of this poptastic track, the band has put together a list of five albums that are made to listened to when you’re on tour, or on a road trip.

Top 5 classic albums to listen to when you’re on tour, or on a road trip

Pixies – Doolittle
Arguably Pixies best album, got so many touring/driving hits. Particularly love responsibly flying down the highway whilst listening to ‘There Goes My Gun’ and ‘Monkey Gone to Heaven’. Such cracking instrumentals and songwriting. – Jack

The Smiths – Hatful of Hollow
Technically a compilation, there are so many amazing songs on this one. Johnny Marr’s
guitar work is so striking and innovative. The early iteration of our latest single ‘Feeling it All’ was completely influenced by the guitar work on this record. That version of ‘How Soon is Now?’ whilst driving on tour makes you feel real cool. – Jack

Modern Baseball – Holy Ghost
Throwing back to my highschool days, this record is jam packed full of heart on your sleeve singalongs. Whilst I feel I’ve grown out of that style of music somewhat, there’s always a special place in my heart for MoBo. Great touring tunes. – Jack

Johnny Cash – At Folsom Prison (live)
What more could you want? This has always been the perfect album for cruising and looking out the window at sheep and cows. Grew up listening to lots of Cash and think that it will forever be an ultimate driving classic. – Lilla

Blondie – The Best Of Blondie
For the nostalgic leg of the trip. When you want to look out the window and pretend you’re in some movie, driving off towards some new chapter, lol. Blondie is definitely the go to. – Lilla
