Sitting Down is a 4-piece psych-pop band from Newcastle, and they’ve been building their fan base since the release of their debut EP, Pilot, in 2022. They are about to release their new track, the dreamy “You Dont Want To Be Alone Anymore”.
The track is infused with beach-vibes, featuring some sweet guitar hooks and luscious synths. I breathed in some deep Ocean Alley feels on this one. It is also going to appeal to fans of Lazy Eyes and the fabulous King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. As the song-name suggests, it deals with heartbreak, which thankfully never feels quite so bad, when it’s imbued with psych-rock.
On “You Don’t Want To Be Alone Anymore”, the band collaborated with producer and mixer Gareth Hudson who has worked with the likes of Amy Vee, Buddy Knox, Briggs and The Beard.
About the video, Lewis Nickel from Sitting Down states “The idea for the video was actually brought forward to us by our video’s director Nathan Rathsam. We immediately loved the idea of creating a satirical piece about a classic tale of heartbreak. The actual process of making the video was so fun and very silly – Brainstorming as many various scenarios as we could to put Josef and Declan (the skeleton) in was quite a laugh. Although we did a lot of goofing around, Nathan was heaps professional and kept everything running super smooth over the 2 day shoot and captured the exact vibe we wanted for the video. Huge shout out to Ella Patterson and Nikola Jokanovic as well on the Camera Assist, and to all our friends who gave up their time to help us out. We hope everyone can have a laugh along with this video, and can enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!!!”
So yes, as Lewis says, it looks like they had fun with their friends creating the video. A skeleton, a love story, beers, wine and the beautiful environs of Newcastle, what more could you ask for.
It’s the first release of the year, in what promises to be a busy one for the band. They will be performing at the Gum Ball Festival in April 21st-23rd.
Enjoy the first viewing of the video for “You Don’t Want To Be Alone Anymore” before its release on Thursday, 16th March.
