Exclusive Video Premiere: JESA “You Before Me” (2021)

JESA

With a buoyant spring in her step, JESA, the effervescent folk-pop singer from the Northern Rivers of NSW has dropped her latest single “You Before Me”. She has craftily turned a break-up song into one of self-affirmation. It’s not maudlin, it’s totally danceable. We are thrilled today to have the video premiere of this uplifting track.

Her music is a tantalising mix of folk with new-age pop. It is laced with a charming optimism which gives it a welcoming embrace.

JESA is a regular on the music circuit around the Northern Rivers, and Brisbane. She’s had a few stints at the Byron Bay Bluesfest, performed at the legendary Byron Bay Beach Hotel and at Brisbane venues Black Bear Lodge and The Foundry.

After playing the original version of “You Before Me” to her friend Robert Cooper, JESA decided to turn it into a more positive uplifting experience. It was no longer a morose break-up song. Out went the acoustic guitar, and a multi-instrumental dance-track was born. The track was re-recorded at Billy Otto’s treehouse studio.

The clip was filmed in the lush northern rivers. Anyone who has travelled in the area will be nostalgic for it after watching this. It features JESA demonstrating just how danceable “You Before Me” is. Enjoy the first look at this fun clip.

“You Before Me” is available on all digital platforms now.
