Exclusive Single Premiere: The Hunter Express “Over Everthing” (2026)

The Hunter Express

Melbourne dreamers The Hunter Express are back with “Over Everything”, the first taste of their forthcoming EP, Gold Fades, due for release later this year.

Led by singer-songwriter Bradley Ellis, The Hunter Express have always had a gift for turning longing and reflection into something quietly cinematic. On “Over Everything”, that gift is given plenty of room to breathe. Opening with just Brad’s emotive vocals and guitar, the track feels immediately intimate, before gradually blooming into something richer and more expansive, fleshed out with gorgeous musicianship from a band that has been orbiting the project for close to a decade.

Written around a broken friendship, “Over Everything” sits in that familiar emotional fog where affection and exhaustion begin to overlap. It’s about the friendships that linger longer than they should; the ones you keep returning to, even when some part of you knows they might be quietly wearing you down.

The Hunter Express turn a fraying friendship into something tender, weary and beautifully widescreen.

Speaking about the track, the band explain:

“Over Everything is a reflection of the time you can place into friendships that aren’t really heading anywhere. Like the ones you know aren’t gonna end well? You love them, you call them your friend, but the relationship leaves you sometimes feeling exhausted.“

Alongside Ellis on vocals and guitar, “Over Everything” features Holly Thomas on drums, Ronan Nicholson on keys and organ, Jarrad Brown on bass, and Matt Dixon on lead guitar. There’s a real collective spirit to the recording, with the piano and organ adding warmth and colour as the song opens out from its stripped-back beginnings.

The single was recorded at The Tree House in Victoria, with songs by The Hunter Express, and mixing and mastering from Alex O’Gorman, better known as Gormie, whose credits include Angie McMahon, Julia Jacklin and Big Smoke. It forms part of a wider five-song collection recorded with Gormie.

The Hunter Express first emerged with their 2016 EP Bluestone Lane, before releasing a string of records including The Hunter Express in 2017, Should Have Come On Sunday in 2019, and A State Of Longing in 2022.
