Exclusive Single Premiere: Sammm. “Four Eyes” (2020)

Brisbane’s Sammm. has doubled-down on dreamy indie-rock with his latest single “Four Eyes”, a poignant track which unpacks a sense of bruised optimism. As elegant as it is angsty, the single channels the style of bands like The War On Drugs and Real Estate with ease.

Sammm., otherwise known as Samuel Geddes, puts on one his finest and most heartfelt performances to date as he waxes lyrical about memory, loss and trust. The heavy-hearted lyrics hit harder with Geddes’ hazy delivery, particularly as the track bleeds into a more visceral space and the tone takes on a more idiosyncratic aesthetic.

Engineered and mixed by Aidan Hogg at The Plutonium Studio, with bass by Casey Glennen and mastering by Mikey Young, “Four Eyes” is a real wallop to the gut, but at least its the kind that softens the blow with such a silky slice of indie rock.

“It’s inspired by two opposite outlooks entangled inside one’s mind,” explained Geddes. “These states of mind are heavily influenced by themes of substance abuse and its effects on one’s relationships, self-care and life balance.”
