Exclusive Music Video Premiere: The Weary “Patti Smith” (2017)

The Weary are not wearisome at all, rather a dreamy bunch of Melbourne musicians making some equally dreamy guitar pop. Their music is slinky and guitar fuelled, inspiration drawn from Bruce Springsteen to Beach House.

Their latest single, “Patti Smith”, is accompanied by a musing, voyeuristic film clip, directed by guitarist Josh Van Cuylenburg. It follows two young Melbourne lovers’ journey in the back of an Uber (warning: you will see smooching).

Tom Nice‘s wistful vocals tell his attempt to alleviate the existential loneliness that followed a breakup, whilst drawing inspiration as well from Patti‘s intangible and immortal relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe.

You can catch The Weary with Peachnoise on the 31st of August at The Yarra in Abbotsford, it’s sure to be a stellar gig. And hey, you never know. Maybe you’ll get an uber ride home that’s as cute as the one below.

Check out some more of their tunes on Unearthed here and follow the group on Facebook here.
