Exclusive Music Video Premiere: Bobby Alu “Other Side” (2019)

Ahead of its official release we’re super excited today to premiere the new music video for “Other Side”, the recent single from the ever delightful and chilled Bobby Alu. Released in November last year, the single is a fresh feel from the Byron Bay Uke strummer, drummer and singer, and the second taste from his forthcoming third album.

The video, a sun kissed Super 8 delight, filmed and edited by Leah Hayes is the perfect visual accompaniment to the gentle percussive pop and island vibes of “Other Side”. It’s fun, visually distinctive and full of character. Talking about the video Bobby said:

“While on tour in California we were met with fine weather and a serendipitous one-day-only opportunity with creative friends from around the world. Featuring the wonderful Gabrielle Miller and filmed on Super 8 by Leah Hayes, Other Side visually explores the characters and energy of Venice beach, some that are striving to reach the other side and maybe others who are already there. Regardless, everyone’s chasing a moment of peace like we shared at sunset on the hills of Malibu.”

Following five years touring internationally with Xavier Rudd as part of his band, 2018 saw Alu really push out on his own once again, in what was a packed year of touring. Over the past twelve months he embarked on a twenty four date Australasian tour, also playing twenty six house concerts, supported Nahko & Trevor Hall and later John Butler Trio on European tours, and played a handful of summer festivals across Europe. More recently he’s been hitting the road on a Summer national tour supporting The Beautiful Girls, the last date of which is tomorrow in Miranda, NSW. With the new album on the way, it doesn’t sound like 2019 will be too much quieter on the touring front. Until then check out the video below and relax!

The single “Other Side” is available now. You can catch Bobby Alu tomorrow night supporting The Beautiful Girls at the Miranda Hotel in Miranda, NSW. Tickets can be found HERE. You can also find Alu on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
