With BIGSOUND serving up a live music lineup that no doubt brought solid highlights across all genres this past week, we were lucky to spend some time with some of the artists who performed some bloody amazing shows over the course of the event.

SAMPA THE GREAT
An artist who came to BIGSOUND with a lot of hype surrounding her, Sampa’s official showcase at Oh Hello! on Thursday night was full of heat, smiles and ferocious talent that proved once again, that she is only just getting started.
WEST THEBARTON BROTHEL PARTY
The Adelaide seven-piece stood out as one of the best bands we saw at BIGSOUND this year, hands down. Taking to the Empire Hotel on Thursday night, their set came to a sweaty, euphoric end, with Ray Dalfsen taking jump off the otherwise pristine bar into an adoring crowd wanting more.
IN EACH HAND A CUTLASS & SYNDICATE
The Singaporean contingent of artists who hit BIGSOUND this year really impressed, with In Each Hand a Cutlass killing their set at Crowbar on Wednesday, not to mention at the Singapore Sound System party at Ric’s on Thursday. We were also introduced to the sounds of Vandetta and Kiah as a result, as the world-renowned Syndicate collective also came through.
THE GOOCH PALMS
Two of our favourite Novocastrians stopped by Brisbane to wind up the Empire Hotel crowd some more on Thursday night with some Introverted Extroverts madness. Things were loose at that show to begin with but when Kat and Leroy took over, things definitely levelled up.
CERES
The Melbourne band got their BIGSOUND off to a great start at Deathproof PR’s official pre-BIGSOUND party on Tuesday night, showing off new album Drag It Down on You to a wonderful response. The party continued at their official festival showcase at The Zoo on Thursday night; emotional, cathartic and a tonne of fun.
BEC SANDRIDGE
As you might have seen (if you follow us on Instagram), BIGSOUND was very good to this talented lady. Providing festival punters with a killer show on Wednesday night at The Foundry, Bec has emerged as one of the frontrunners of the festival in terms of artists to be watching in 2017, as a result.
B WISE
As long time supporters of the Sydney based hip hop artist, seeing B Wise recognised at BIGSOUND on Thursday night was great. With his Semi Pro EP coming out in a few weeks, it was a perfect way to continue amping up the hype for B Wise.
ALLAN SMITHY
Another favourite of ours from 2016, Allan Smithy hit the Black Bear Lodge on Wednesday night to bring some of that gorgeous Australiana from Sydney to the Valley.
ALEX L’ESTRANGE
Taking to the stage at The Brightside on Tuesday night for Title Track’s pre-BIGSOUND party, newcomer Alex L’Estrange definitely made an impact. Next out on the road with Holy Holy this November, this was a perfect way for music fans to get another little look into the sort of show we’re to be expecting in coming months.
