The world of Elle Woods took over New York City this week as Amazon MGM Studios transformed Manhattan’s Hall des Lumières into a pink-filled celebration of both the upcoming Prime Video series Elle and the 25th anniversary of Legally Blonde.
Dubbed “Elle World,” the one-day immersive experience sold out almost immediately, drawing thousands of fans eager to step inside the iconic universe first introduced by Reese Witherspoon in the beloved 2001 film.
Spread across multiple levels, the experience offered visitors a chance to fully embrace their inner Elle Woods through interactive attractions, live performances, themed installations and plenty of opportunities for pink-clad photo moments. Fans explored everything from a nostalgic yearbook photo studio and Legally Blonde trivia challenges to live improv performances, a fashion runway and a crowd-pleasing “Bend & Snap” drag showcase.
The event also welcomed the cast of Prime Video’s upcoming prequel series Elle, including Lexi Minetree and June Diane Raphael, who joined fans in exploring the experience alongside displays featuring original costumes, franchise memorabilia and dreamlike cloud-inspired installations.

As excitement builds for the series’ July 1st premiere, the evening culminated in a rare reunion of the original Legally Blonde cast. Witherspoon was joined on stage by Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, Ali Larter, Matthew Davis and Victor Garber for the first time since the film’s release, reflecting on the movie’s enduring cultural impact and sharing behind-the-scenes memories from its production.
Moderated by Las Culturistas hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, the conversation delivered plenty of nostalgia and emotion. Witherspoon became visibly emotional while discussing the film’s lasting connection with audiences, while Coolidge had the crowd laughing and tearing up in equal measure as she recalled believing she had originally auditioned to play Elle herself.
The cast also shared the lines fans still quote back to them decades later, with Coolidge revealing that Paulette’s memorable declaration, “I want a hot dog real bad,” remains one of the most repeated.
Looking ahead to the franchise’s future, Witherspoon spoke about passing the torch to newcomer Minetree, revealing details of their first Zoom conversation and the responsibility that comes with stepping into one of pop culture’s most recognisable roles.

The celebration closed with two surprise musical performances that transported audiences straight back to the early 2000s. Hoku performed her multi-platinum hit “Perfect Day,” famously featured in the opening sequence of Legally Blonde, before Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton delivered a performance of “A Thousand Miles” to cap off the evening.
Premiering July 1st on Prime Video, Elle serves as a prequel to Legally Blonde, following Elle Woods during her high school years in 1995 and exploring the experiences that helped shape the ambitious, optimistic young woman audiences would later come to know and love.
Australian fans won’t have to wait long to join the celebrations. Prime Video has confirmed that star Minetree will visit Australia in July as part of the series’ global launch tour. The Sydney stop will include a special launch event celebrating both the debut season of Elle and the enduring legacy of the Legally Blonde franchise, giving fans and media the chance to get a little closer to the next chapter in Elle Woods’ story.
