Ariana Grande announces new album, Petal, reveals artwork and release date

Ariana Grande has officially entered a new era, unveiling her eighth studio album Petal, set for release on 31st July via Republic Records and Universal Music in Australia.

The announcement, shared via Instagram, arrived alongside the album’s artwork and pre-order details. Fans can secure Petal across multiple formats, including LP, CD, cassette, and a limited exclusive vinyl edition through both Grande’s official website and Universal Music Australia.

Following 2024’s Eternal Sunshine and its deluxe companion Brighter Days Ahead, Petal signals a continuation – and evolution – of a creatively rich period for the pop superstar. In her own words, the album is “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging,” hinting at a project shaped by resilience and renewal.

The record is executive produced and co-written by Ilya Salmanzadeh, a longtime collaborator who played a major role in Eternal Sunshine. Known for his work alongside Max Martin and with artists like Demi Lovato (“Confident”), Jennifer Lopez (“First Love”), Ed Sheeran (“Azizam”) and Tate McRae (“It’s OK, I’m OK”), Ilya’s involvement suggests a polished yet emotionally grounded sonic direction.

The release of Petal will coincide with Grande’s long-awaited return to the stage. Her upcoming The Eternal Sunshine Tour kicks off on 6th June at Oakland Arena in California, marking her first tour in six years. Produced by Live Nation Entertainment, the run will travel across major North American cities before heading to the UK in August, including a five-night stint at London’s O2 Arena from 15th to 23rd August.

With a significant number of dates already sold out, demand underscores Grande’s enduring global appeal. Having sold over 70 million albums and amassed more than 115 billion streams worldwide, she remains one of the defining pop voices of her generation.

However, the tour may carry added weight for fans. Speaking on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, Grande hinted that this run could be her “last hurrah” for a while. After years balancing music with her acting career – including her widely praised turn as Glinda in the Wicked film adaptations – she suggested her future may lean more toward creative exploration beyond touring.

“I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful,” she said. “That’s why I’m doing it – because I’m like, ‘One last hurrah.’”

If that proves true, Petal and its accompanying tour may mark not just a new chapter, but a meaningful pause in one of pop’s most prolific live careers.
