Exclusive Single Premiere: This Time Only “Mick from the Pub” (2026)

This Time Only

Sydney punk rock outfit This Time Only are turning the volume up this week with their new single “Mick From The Pub”, premiering exclusively today ahead of its official release this Friday. Alongside the single comes a raw and unfiltered music video directed by Simon Wyrembak, featuring the band in full flight with Mick decked out in high-vis — as his story plays out in messy, familiar detail.

Built on sweat, grit and big hooks, This Time Only have carved out a sound where urgent, driving guitars collide with lived-in Australian storytelling. “Mick From The Pub” captures that balance perfectly — loud and anthemic on the surface, but with something more reflective simmering underneath. It’s a song about a character we’ve all met: the pub regular who always has an opinion, a yarn, and a permanent place at the bar.

Speaking about the track, the band share:

“Mick From The Pub” drew heavily from Matt’s time working in (and patroning) shitty pubs. It’s about those people everyone knows, the pub regular who’s always got something to say, always got a story, and always seems to be there. On the surface Mick’s funny, loud and full of opinions, but the song is really about what’s sitting underneath that. It’s less about taking the piss and more about looking at that kind of character with a bit of empathy.

The song and video were built to feel raw and familiar, like you’re watching his daily downfall play out in real time. We wanted it to feel honest and a bit messy, the same way pubs and people can be. It’s our attempt at capturing a snapshot of someone you’ve probably crossed paths with before, whether you noticed it or not.”

The video leans into that sense of immediacy — sweaty rehearsal room energy intercut with Mick’s high-vis-clad presence — grounding the track in a distinctly Australian pub culture that feels both nostalgic and uncomfortably current. A smoke, a punt, one too many and some wobble-dancing. All too familiar.

To celebrate the release, This Time Only will launch “Mick From The Pub” live at Oxford Art Factory (Gallery Bar) in Sydney on March 14, joined by Tallulah. Tickets are available via Moshtix (18+ event). Head HERE for tickets and get on down and support live music!

“Mick From The Pub” is out this Friday on all major streaming platforms — but you can watch the video and hear it first right here on the AU review. And you can help with the algorithm by pre-saving HERE.
