Festival Review: Lollapalooza (Day Two) ft. The Temper Trap + Grouplove + Foster the People + Outkast - Grant Park, Chicago (02.08.14)

Day Two of Lolla started later for a lot of people, I gathered, with Friday night's aftershow/party antics continuing well on into the early hours of Saturday morning. Nursing a Red Bull, I arrived back at Grant Park on Saturday afternoon to a party which was already well cranked.

Day three dawns and the sun gods have visited us again – time to get alarmed, because now we know New York will be haunted with rain, fog and mugginess for the weeks to come. Only two minutes in, Canadian's Half Moon Run have set the bar for the day, with smooth harmonies and a gracefulness that makes every instrument from drum to kazoo look like an elaborately choreographed move – more dancing than music-making.

the AU last caught up with The Head and The Heart back in New York as part of CMJ; they had sold out Terminal 5 on the city's west side and were continuing to build up a strong fan base. Speaking with Josiah, who is in Detroit at the time of our chat, we get the lowdown on how the past few months of touring has treated the band ahead of their return to Australia for Splendour in the Grass.

Sideshows announced for Splendour in the Grass

With this year's Splendour in the Grass now sold out, sideshows will be the only chance you have in catching some of the world-class acts which make up the fabulous line-up. While many of the big-names are exclusive to the festival, there are quite a few exciting sideshows for concertgoers to sink their teeth into. All tickets on sale 9am AEST, Friday 9th May. Of course there will be a multitude of outfits from around the home country converging on New York for CMj. We've scoured five different outfits of varying sounds to check out. Whether you are heading to CMJ, or just looking for some new bands to listen to at home, these outfits are certainly worth your time.

New round of artists announced for the CMJ Music Marathon!

We're getting so close to the annual CMJ Music Marathon in New York City and they've still got more exciting developments to reveal! The huge music event that will be taking over the city from October 15-19 has had some more impressive names added to the already announced list, surely set to make scheduling harder for those attendees already scratching their heads, trying to work out a timetable that will fit as many artists in as possible.

Paul McCartney and Nine Inch Nails heading up the 2013 Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco!

The line up for the 2013 Outside Lands Festival has been announced, with the San Franciscan audience set to get amongst some awesome sets courtesy of Paul McCartney, a reformed Nine Inch Nails and more. From August 9-11, Golden Gate Park will become a music lover's haven; tickets are on sale now from, with a portion of ticket sales going toward San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department.
