Live Review: Paramore + You Me At Six + Twenty One Pilots - Allphones Arena, Sydney (11.01.14)

If you could mix together a blend of emo, pop punk, fast paced alternative rock and a dash of rap you would be pretty close to summarising the different genres and sounds you’d hear at tonight’s concert. All of this would be delivered in large high energy doses courtesy of all three acts.

Album Review: Paramore - Paramore (2013)

It’s been a while, four years in fact, but Paramore are back with their power pop filled fourth, self-titled album. A lot has changed for the Tennessee based band and it really shows throughout. It’s the first album release since two of the band’s members left and while the band still uses love, angst and rebellion as motivation for the album, the way it’s delivered is different to Riot and Brand New Eyes.

Festival Review: Soundwave - Bonython Park, Adelaide (02.03.13)

Oh Soundwave. You’ve had some ups and downs this year, haven’t you? From bands pulling out, Twitter wars and crowd injuries, you’ve still managed to pull off one of the most successful national festival tours we’ve seen in some years. The pure scale of the festival has always managed to daunt me, but it wasn’t until I actually stepped foot in the Bonython Park venue that I realised how mega this year’s Soundwave was setting up to be. This year, AJ Maddah had set out to create a festival to be, in the words of Wayne Campbell, double live gonzo. Intensity in ten cities. Live at Budokan.
