Winter is coming… later: Season seven of Game of Thrones has been delayed

Winter is coming. Usually that means things are about to get epic for Game of Thrones fans but they may be a little peeved to know that shooting on the seventh season has been delayed so that winter can finally get its starring role.

To facilitate season six’s “Winter is here” bombshell, HBO have announced that production on the next season will start later in order to truly harness the much touted winter.

“Now that winter has arrived on Game of Thrones, Executive Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing,” HBO Programming President Casey Bloys said.

What does this mean for Australian fans? We won’t be seeing season seven – which will now only have seven episodes instead of the usual 10 – until our winter next year.

Although you may be itching to finally see what happens, it appears as though HBO are doing their best to give fans what they’ve all been waiting for.
