Kimberley brings us the best TV for the first half of the work week on Australian free-to-air…

Monday February 2nd

My Kitchen Rules, Ch. 7, 7:30pm AEST

The cooking show that seems to capture the nation returns on Monday, and if you want to have anything to talk about with your work colleagues, you better be watching. Of course it’s less about the food and more about the personalities and politics, so let the drama and games begin! Manu Feildel and Pete Evans are both back to judge the meals offered up by the eager contestants, beginning of course with the home-cooking rounds.

Jack Reacher, Ten, 9:00pm AEST

Despite the controversial casting choice of Tom Cruise as Lee Child’s popular hero Jack Reacher, the film itself is a smooth crime thriller with a typically charismatic performance by Cruise. The strong supporting cast includes the talented and beautiful Rosamund Pike, now of Gone Girl fame, and the similarly brilliant David Oyelowo. So sit back and enjoy the ride as ex-military investigator Reacher singlehandedly (and slightly implausibly) takes down his numerous enemies.

The Usual Suspects, One, 9:30pm AEST

This Oscar winning film is full of twists and turns, adding layers to what begins as a simple plot. Five conmen meet at a seemingly random police line-up, wrongfully suspected and therefore decide to get revenge. Starring Kevin Spacey (who won an Oscar for his performance), Stephen Baldwin, Gabriel Byrne and Benicio Del Toro, this crime thriller will keep you guessing.

Tuesday February 3rd

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, ABC 2, 7:52 pm AEST

Putting Jimmy Fallon and Will Ferrell in a room together pretty much guarantees that hilarity will ensue. And when you put them together in a lip sync battle – even better. Joining Ferrell in the battle will be comedian Kevin Hart, and ArianaGrande will perform her new single ‘One Last Time’ live.

Wednesday February 4th

The Blind Side, Ch. 9, 9:00 pm AEST

Based on the true story of Michael Oher, The Blind Side tells the story of how the homeless teen succeeds with the help of the kind family that takes him in. Leigh- Anne (Sandra Bullock) and Sean Tuohy (Tim McGraw) begin to care for Oher (Quinton Aaron) like their own son and are desperate for him to reach his potential. The heart-warming and brilliantly made film won Bullock a well-deserved Oscar for her stellar performance.
