Kitchen Cabinet-ABC-8pm AEST

Political journalist and commentator Annabel Crabb’s Kitchen Cabinet has been a surprise hit for the ABC, a unique show in which Crabb interviews various Australian political figures whilst cooking with them in their homes. While Crabb brings dessert, her interviewee provides the main dish, giving Crabb plenty of time to chat with the politico of the week as they prepare their meal. In this first episode of the fifth season, Crabb joins current Treasurer Scott Morrison in his family holiday house, with the episode actually being recorded just a short time before the recent leadership spill which saw Morrison moving from the social services portfolio to his new role as chief bean counter. Kitchen Cabinet is an insightful show that pulls off that rare feat-humanising politicians-making it essential viewing for anyone with a passing interest in all things #auspol.

Casino Royale-Nine-8.30pm AEST

When Daniel Craig was first announced to play everyone’s favourite suave super spy James Bond, audience reactions were hugely mixed. Sure people thought he was a decent enough actor, but he had blond hair. BLONDE HAIR! Casino Royale quickly proved the naysayers wrong however, as Craig quickly proved himself as one of the best actors to take on the 007 mantle. In this effective reboot of the franchise, director Martin Campbell goes back to the early days of Bond’s career in this adaptation of Ian Fleming’s first novel. In this madcap adventure across the globe, Bond takes on terrorist financier Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) with the help of his latest paramour Vesper Lynd (Eva Green). A true classic, Casino Royale is a vital watch before you check out Bond’s next outing on the silver screen Spectre.
