The first teaser trailer is released for Allegiant – the third film in the Divergent series

The first teaser trailer for the third instalment in the YA-to-screen series Divergent has been released. Allegianpicks up where Insurgent left off and looks like it should keep fans of the series happy as we head beyond the wall. The film is being directed by Robert Schwentke and will be separating the final book in the trilogy (of the same name) – though rather than calling it “Part 1” and “Part 2”, a-la Twilight or Harry Potter, the fourth film in the series will be called Ascendant and will be released in March 2017. In the meantime, here’s the full synopsis for what is technically the first part of the Allegiant adaptation – then enjoy the first teaser!

The third instalment of the blockbuster Divergent series franchise, ALLEGIANT takes Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) into a new world, far more dangerous than ever before. After the earth-shattering revelations of INSURGENT, Tris must escape with Four and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago. For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known.

Once outside, old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless with the revelation of shocking new truths. Tris and Four must quickly decide who they can trust as a ruthless battle ignites beyond the walls of Chicago which threatens all of humanity. In order to survive, Tris will be forced to make impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant is out March 2016.
