Australian and New Zealand Pokémon Trainers will be geared up to catch ’em all on September the 16th when Pokémon Go Plus makes its launch. The wearable device will be compatible with both iOS and select Android smart phones, and will allow players to detect when a Pokémon is near without a mere glance at their phone, so you wont need to worry about stumbling in-front of traffic if you happen to spot a wild Dratini.
Pokémon Go Plus will be able to detect nearby Pokémon and PokéStops via low energy Bluetooth. The device will vibrate and flash green when a Pokémon is near, and vibrate and blink when a player is in range of a PokéStop. A simple tap of the Pokémon Go Plus button will allow players to throw a Poké Ball at nearby Pokémon, or collect items from a PokéStop.
While this sounds like a dream come true for avid Pokémon Go players, the device has its downfalls. If you have been saving up your incense in the hopes of luring some rare Pokémon, don’t expect Pokémon Go Plus to help you out, as the device is unable to detect Pokémon attracted by the in-game item. While Pokémon Go Plus’s incompatibility with incense may not be enough to deter you, the lack of distance tracking might. Thats right, despite your hard spent effort stepping out your front door, if you have Pokémon Go Plus running, you wont hatch that 10km egg.
While no set price has been announced for Pokémon Go Plus, Nintendo announced at its E3 trade show that players can expect the device to retail at $35 USD
