NYCC: Sigourney Weaver joining Marvel’s The Defenders

It has been announced that actress Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Avatar) will be playing a significant role in Marvel‘s The Defenders series. During Saturday’s Marvel New York Comic Con panel, the cast of The Defenders came together on the stage for the first time.

Marvel Veterans Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and Finn Jones (Danny Rand) came together to welcome the newest Marvel actress Sigourney Weaver.

“Marvel is honoured to have an actress of her calibre and status join what is already our biggest show ever! She is by definition a class act,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television.

While Sigourney Weaver’s role is still under wraps, fans can look forward to her taking on a significant part in the upcoming series.

The Defenders is expected to make its release on Netflix in 2017.
