Jeremy Renner, Catherine Tate and more to head to Armageddon Expo Wellington in NZ

Here at The Iris we’re quite fond of attending pop culture and comic conventions. We’ve been regularly covering Australian events for the last few years now. However this year we’re setting our sights on events abroad and looking to check out what our international compatriots have to offer.

Across the ditch our New Zealand neighbours have Armageddon Expo, and similar to our Supanova, they visit a few cities each year, Wellington, Tauranga, Auckland and Christchurch. For their first show of the year – Wellington – they’ve come bursting out of the gate with a very impressive guest lineup for the event occurring over the Easter 2018 long weekend.

Late last year they announced their major headline guest, Jeremy Renner (The Avengers, Arrival, The Bourne Legacy) and just this past week have been dropping some excellent other guests to join the Marvel movie star.

Catherine Tate (Doctor Who), Bonnie Wright (Harry Potter films), Rahul Kohli and Aly Michalka (both from iZombie), Kim Rhodes (Supernatural and the newly minted SPN spin off show Wayward Sisters), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Legends Of Tomorrow) and Corin Nemec (Stargate SG1).

Not to mention a bunch of voice actors such as Cherami Leigh (Sword Art Online, Sailor Moon), Mike McFarland (Dragonball Z), Laren Landa (Attack On Titan). And not to be outdone by those starring in film and television are the comic artists and cosplay stars, such as Ben Stenbeck (Hellboy) and Al Barrionuevo (Batman: Gotham Knights) and Jessica Nigri and Ashlynne Dae. And there will be further guest announcements Monday to Friday through next week.

Armageddon Expo Wellington will be held at Westpac Stadium on Friday 30 March, Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April, with the full schedule of events available from 29th January. Photo and autograph tokens for the three headliners – Renner, Tate and Wright as well as admission tickets and VIP passes are on sale now via Ticketek New Zealand.
