J.J. Abrams’s The God Particle is forming

J.J. Abrams looks determined to continue his push for racial diversity in Hollywood with the latest cast announcement for his long-speculated sci-fi thriller, The God Particle.

Having recent success in 10 Cloverfield Lane and Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, Abrams will again join forces with Paramount, and has enlisted Nigerian-American director Julius Onah to take the reigns.

Onah, who has been a part of the project since 2012, made his directorial debut last year with The Girl Is In Trouble.

The other additions to the cast list are David Oyelowo, who shone as Martin Luther King, Jr. in Selma, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw who is returning form her role in Concussion.

The film will focus on a group of astronauts who make a terrifying discovery, which will challenge everything they know about the fabric of reality, as they fight desperately to survive.

The God Particle will premiere in theaters on the 24th, Feb 2017.
