Get your first look at Freeheld, starring Oscar winner Julianne Moore and Ellen Page

Directed by Peter Sollett and starring the incredible ensemble that is Julianne Moore, Ellen Page, Steve Carell, Josh Charles and Michael Shannon, the gay rights drama Freeheld – out in November – is one of the early Oscar buzz films for 2015. And today, a just released trailer let’s us in on what we’re in for. You can view it below!

Here’s the synopsis:

From the writer of Philadelphia and producers of Erin Brockovich, Freeheld is based on the true story of Laurel Hester (Julianne Moore) and Stacie Andree (Ellen Page) and adapted from Cynthia Wade’s Oscar-winning 2007 documentary short. When Laurel, a police detective in Ocean County, New Jersey, found out she had terminal lung cancer, she sought to leave her benefits to Stacie, her partner — only to be blocked (initially) by the county’s governing body of Freeholders. Like so many pivotal figures in the LGBT civil rights movement, Hester was an unlikely activist, driven first by personal necessity and then by robust, full-throated determination.
