Transforming himself to embody Mark Kerr, an American former wrestler and mixed martial artist, Johnson is looking to prove his detractors wrong in The Smashing Machine, a filmic take on the same-name HBO documentary that tracked his sporting career, substance abuse issues, and relationships with partners, both personal and professional.
Reuniting with his Jungle Cruise co-star Emily Blunt and directed by Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems), The Smashing Machine is set to release in Australian theatres on October 2nd; prime award season placement, if you ask me.
