Amazon MGM Studios have unveiled a series of first-look stills for The Wrecking Crew, their action-comedy starring Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa, which is set to premiere on Prime Video on January 28th, 2026.
Born from one of Bautista’s own tweets – he posted on X in 2021 “Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go… Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait.😬” – the project rather quickly assembled itself in the wake of clear interest.
Whilst The Fall Guy director Leitch never came to fruition – directorial duties fell to Blue Beetle‘s Ángel Manuel Soto – screenwriter Jonathan Tropper made good on Bautista’s outline, with the official story following two half-brothers — one a loose cannon cop (Momoa), the other a disciplined Navy SEAL (Bautista) – who, after 20-odd years of bad blood, must work together to unravel the conspiracy behind their father’s murder in Hawaii.
Set in the streets of Hawaii, the film also stars Claes Bang, Jacob Batalon, Stephen Root, and Morena Baccarin.
