Daredevil to return in The Defenders, Season 3 in limbo

Charlie Cox, the man behind the Daredevil mask braced the stage at a Netflix event in Paris early Monday morning to discuss the future of the eponymous TV series.

After an unquestionably-successful two-season run as the first Marvel heroes with a series of their own, Cox didn’t have a lot of light to shed on the status of a third season of the series.

“We don’t know if there’s going to be a Season 3” he said.

While the fate of the burgundy hero’s next solo outing remains in limbo, Cox did go on to say that the character would return in the upcoming Avengers-style crossover series, The Defenders, alongside Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.

The Defenders is expected to start filming later on in the year.

Whether or not some of the loose-ends from Daredevil will carry over into the new series remains uncertain. From the sounds of it, Cox is as in the dark as fans, saying “In terms of wrapping up any storylines, maybe they’ll do some of that in The Defenders. Or maybe they won’t.”

Mike Colter’s Luke Cage will premiere Sept. 30 and then Finn Jones’ Iron Fist will release in the following year, leaving Marvel fans with plenty to look forward to before The Defenders are united.

The first two seasons of Daredevil and season one of Jessica Jones are available on Netflix.
