Australia’s Great War Horse celebrates the estimated 130,000 Australian horses that served throughout WWI. The successes made by our troops in the Great War would have been impossible without the ‘Walers’ as they were known, and this documentary sets out to celebrate their role in the war by telling the story of the horses’ colonial origins, their gallant service, and their shameful fate. Much loved Australian actor will similarly celebrate the story of his own family, with the program Why Anzac With Sam Neill. In this powerful documentary, Sam Neill uncovers forgotten truths that reveal the enduring myth of Anzac that still haunt our two countries’ histories.

Join Kate Aubusson for Lest We Forget What? as she travels from Australia to Gallipoli and across the Western Front in search of answers of what happened on the battlefields. It is a journey that will change what we think about the Anzac legend and ourselves. The Crater takes an in-depth look at the 1968 battles of Coral and Balmoral, which were the biggest engagements for Australian troops since WWII. The special follows soldier Brian Cleaver, a National Serviceman conscript whose number came out of the lottery barrel and who was sent to Vietnam to serve his country.
