Australian Box Office Report: Inside Out makes a dash for the top in its 4th week

Despite the introduction of dinosaurs, time travelling cyborgs and male strippers, one adorable and very resonant animated film has weathered the storm and secured top spot over the weekend.

In its 4th week since opening, Inside Out has been rewarded for its consistency and rose (deservedly so) to the the top of the box office with a solid $4.3 million.  Thanks in part to its relevant and important subject matter and school holiday sales, the colorful Pixar film has made over $25 million in Australia since release.
Minions trails closely behind now at number 2 (another impressive feat) earning $4.1 million.

Last weeks major opener Magic Mike XXL failed to capture the..er…magic (that can’t be right) of its predecessor but still sits comfortably in 3rd spot, making $4.1 million.

Terminator Genisys begins its downward spiral after a solitary week on top. It earned $2.8 million over the weekend bringing its total gross to $10 million in Australia. Its worldwide gross is a ho-hum $225 million.

Jurassic World on the other hand continues to steam ahead. Its $2.7 million last week brings its total to just over $49 million as it itches ever closer to that $50 mil. In contrast to Terminator, Jurassic World’s worldwide gross now sits at a whopping $1,470,067,331

This week marks the release of the the ever dominating Marvels next film. Ant-Man gets his MCU debut and while the character isn’t known as well to those not invested in comic book culture, its promising trailers and word of mouth have already garnered it some anticipation. The third installment of the Insidious films should also make quite a mark.
