Australian Box Office Report: Hunger Games has another week on top as Star Wars looms

Let’s face it. The box office is about to crumble as the release of a certain space opera draws ever closer. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 isn’t discouraged however, earning another impressive AU$2.8 million in its third week on top. It has now made over half a million dollars worldwide as it draws ever closer surpassing Mockingjay – Part 1.

Spectre is still doing great numbers too – the Bond flick sits behind Hunger Games with AU$2.1 million but still trails its predecessor Skyfall and at this rate, will probably never catch up.

Hotel Transylvania 2 and Creed round out the top four with AU$1.4 million and AU$1.2 million respectively.

In the Heart of the SeaRon Howard’s newest film starring Chris Hemsworth debuted at fifth spot. The Moby Dick tale earned AU$876k in its first week while Seth Rogens The Night Before debuted at sixth spot with AU$777k.
