Review: Holiday Inn’s Ontario Airport location boasts exceptional service and comfort

My experience with the Holiday Inn Ontario Airport, California (about an hour east of Los Angeles) started two days before I was set to arrive. I wanted to make sure that arriving late at night after a music festival would be acceptable, and that I could have a late checkout the next day.

The woman who responded to my email was very friendly, taking interest in the reason I was staying at the hotel, and asking me about living in Brooklyn since she was planning to visit New York in the near future. Checking in and out late was not a problem, and she gave me a tip to put the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on my door so the cleaners would not try to come into the room in the morning. When I eventually arrived at the hotel, I was surprised to see how easy it was to find on-site parking and how fancy the lobby looked. After all, I was expecting a run of the mill, basic airport hotel, as it is located right near the little-known Ontario airport.

My room was huge. It had a big bathroom with a great shower, a big TV in front of the bed, and the biggest bed I’ve had the luxury of sleeping on. The decor was typical of most hotels – a desk, a chair, an arm chair, – with beige and grey coloring and a couple of colorful features. It also had a mini fridge, a coffee machine, and free tea and coffee to choose from.

The Californian sun was completely kept out by the heavy curtains, something I was very thankful for given my desire to sleep in after being at a festival the day before, and I was not distracted or disturbed by any guests on either side of my room or by anyone in the hallway. The checkout process was quick and easy, and one staff member told me I “looked very cute,” as I was leaving; nothing like a little compliment to make your day better!

While you do have to provide an extra amount for a security deposit on your credit/debit card when you check in, this was refunded to me very quickly after I checked out. The hotel has a gym, a pool, and a cocktail lounge, but I did not stay long enough to use these amenities. As this hotel is in regional California and near an airport, it’s unsurprising that there is not a lot to explore nearby. If you need somewhere pleasant and easy to stay, and you plan to drive, this place is perfect.
