Jameson Caskmates announce special limited edition Young Henrys Edition for Australia

Newtown locals Young Henrys and Irish whiskey icons Jameson have just taken their ever-growing friendship to the next level, joining forces to create the first Australian whiskey partnership for the ongoing Jameson Caskmates series. You guessed it – that means a special, limited edition Jameson Caskmates Young Henrys Edition is heading our way very soon, building on the already successful partnership which last year saw the release of the “Craic & Barrel”, an Irish Red Ale from Young Henrys that had been aged in Jameson Irish Whiskey casks.

Ten freshly soaked red ale barrels were emptied and sent from Young Henrys in Newtown to the home of Jameson in Midleton, Co. Cork, where they were filled with smooth mature Irish whiskey. The flavours have built up a unique profile over time, resulting in an expression that promises notes of caramel, malt and subtle hops lifted by a mild pot still spiciness.

“At the end of the day, making a great beer, or a great whiskey comes down to collaborations and friendships; both of which have driven innovation and discovery throughout Jameson history”, explained David Quinn, Jameson’s Head of Whiskey Science. “Young Henrys have a passion for making great beer, but also different types of beer and experimenting is at the heart of what they do – which is what we were at Jameson love to do as well”.

“It’s a rare gem in this life to get the opportunity to create something you love with people you ultimately respect”, added Young Henrys founder Oscar McMahon. “Young Henrys prides itself on being an open minded and forward thinking group who are happy to work with other people towards shared goals instead of always just pushing our own agenda. To make a whiskey barrel aged beer and then subsequently release a ‘beer barrel aged’ whiskey with the fine people of Jameson has been a truly humbling, inspiration experience”.

An extremely limited amount of Jameson Caskmates Young Henrys Edition will be made available across Australia at Vintage Cellars and select on-promise venues as part of a joint boilermaker promotion kicking off at the beginning of October. Those who want to pick up a bottle for themselves are looking at an RRP of $59.99.
