Jack Daniel’s plan free time travelling whisky masterclasses across Australia

As part of their worldwide 150th anniversary celebrations, iconic brand Jack Daniel’s are bringing a unique experience to Australian Whisky fans, planning free “A Journey through 150 Years of Craft & Cocktail Culture” masterclasses and tastings that are said to take guests back to 1920s prohibition era and beyond. JD’s Assistant Master Distiller Chris Fletcher will be making his way down to host these events, which are planned for Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.

Whisky enthusiasts heading along to these exclusive tasting experiences will be immersed in the sights, sounds, and tastes of Jack Daniel’s through the ages, welcomed into secret locations across each city to traverse the 20s, 70s, 80s and 90s via cultural touchstones and signature cocktails – including a celebratory cocktail designed by Fletcher.

Entertainment has been curated for each event, which will also include a Whisky tasting masterclass where Fletcher will be putting sensory skills to the test and opening up a rare opportunity for guests to find out what it’s like to be a Jack Daniel’s Master Taster.

Two events are planned for Sydney, kicking off on Thursday 28th July with three sessions (see below for full details) at a secret CBD location and repeating on Friday 29th July. Perth will get their turn on Wednesday 3rd August, while Brisbane is lucky last on Friday 5th August. While this event won’t be coming to Melbourne, the city has already had their fair share of celebration with a pop-up barrel house which was located in Southbank earlier this year.

All events are free as long as you RSVP. See below for full details.

Later this year, JD will also be extending their global barrel scavenger hunt to Australia, which will last a total of 90 days and give whisky fans the chance to win exclusive prizes including VIP tickets, travel and accommodation to the big celebration happening at the Lynchburg distiller this October, and more. Prizes are resting in select barrels, 10 of which are hidden across Australia with clues released via Jack Daniel’s Australia’s Facebook page.

“The barrel is key to crafting Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey as it accounts for 100 percent of its colour and 70 to 80 percent of its flavour,” said Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Jeff Arnett. “It’s an important part of our process that’s remained unchanged for 150 years, and that tradition will continue to live on in every barrel we make and each drop of our whiskey. As the only major distilling company that makes our own barrels, the Barrel Hunt celebrates the distillery’s history and gives fans a chance to own a barrel and be forever tied to Jack Daniel’s.”
