Fujifilm create luxury “Fuji Island” so guests can get the perfect Instagram shot

A genuine pinch yourself moment: soaking in a private infinity pool with a five-star luxury villa to one side, the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Fiji as your background, and absolutely no tourists in sight. This is your island, and you’re sharing it with a handful of other friends, being served gourmet meals, cocktails and wine by a professional team of nine while taking in all the activities this two hectare paradise offers, from snorkelling and paddle boarding to kayaking and island trekking. Best of all, it’s not prohibitively expensive or out-of-reach.

That’s the idea of “Fuji Island”, which will be available to rent over the next few months. Just under an hour by boat from Fiji’s mainland, the paradise, which has hosted the likes of Pink and Paris Hilton in the past, is up for a cool USD $2,200 per night (that’s about AUD $512 each between a group of six) and has been kitted out by Fujifilm with a dizzying amount of camera equipment. The plan is that guests will be able to capture every moment of what is truly one of the most pristine and picturesque locations you can ask for, with every single thing they need to nail the photography side of this once-in-a-lifetime vacation, regardless of experience.

Even if you aren’t confident enough to touch anything more advanced than a smartphone camera, those aforementioned staff on-hand double as your private photographers and will even show you how to make the most of all the equipment available to you, including Fuijifilm’s brand new X-T3, the Japanese company’s just-announced mirrorless digital camera with some serious power behind it, along with plenty of lenses and underwater cameras.

Obviously Fujifilm is the team behind this, kitting out the island to offer guests a unique destination that looks custom-built for snagging those perfect Instagram shots, from the sunrises and sunsets, to the crystal clear lagoons, coves, cliffs and private beaches all accessible by boat (the island comes with your own boat and captain for island hopping).

“Aussies are now booking holidays based on how their travel pics will look on Instagram, so we wanted to show it’s not as hard as you think to capture the perfect shot”, said Fuji Island Marketing Manager Alex Zitser. “From professional photographers to [would-be] travel influencers, the picturesque Fuji Island is the perfect holiday destination to capture a shot that will give all your followers FOMO”.

Fuji Island is located near the famed Mamanuca Islands and close to the island that was used for Tom Hanks film Castaway. It’s perched around 37 metres above sea level and is spread across two acres of volcanic rock, featuring uninterrupted panoramic views across the vast archipelago.

Best of all, there are three separate villa types on the island. All are fully air conditioned and connected to wrap around decks for indoor/outdoor living. One even features a bed so ridiculously big it could easily fit an entire family and then some, right alongside an enormous bathroom and outdoor rain shower. Each suite can be individually configured to guests needs, even for families with kids with them.

Fuji Island is open for bookings now for up to two people with a minimum two night stay, inclusive of all that is mentioned above including five-star luxury villa accommodation, all gourmet meals and beverages like wine and cocktails, a team of nine professional staff and two chefs, island activities, use of the Fuji Island long boat, and the latest Fujifilm photography equipment. There’s even a helipad on the island in case guests really want to splash out on their arrival with a 10 minute scenic flight from Nadi International Airport.

All booking information on Fuji Island can be found at fujiisland.com.au.
