HQ Group’s Afloat Melbourne has reopened with a fresh new look, bringing the flavours, energy, and vibrance of Rio De Janeiro right to our very doorstep.

Launching right into the summer season, patrons will get a taste of Brazil with a rich, flavourful menu including empanadas, coxinha, pastels, dulce de leche flan, and other dishes inspired by South American culture. The drinks menu has also been revamped to include more drinks that are on theme. You can check out their full menu online.

Their classic New Year’s Eve Party is already ramping up to be an incredible event, with a night full of samba, Latin American music, flowing drinks, floating canapés, and live entertainment to keep you fuelled through the night.

Propping up a South American theme has given Afloat a new lease on life as it scratches off a successful decade on the Yarra. The entire venue has been transformed with lush rainforest greens and turquoise trimmings, complementing the spread of bright yellow lounges and hand-painted murals.

Australia has never seen a floating bar like this, playing on a never-ending summer that’ll spread all-night parties and vibrant, carnivalesque events across the coming season.

Executive Chef Paul Dunlop handles the culinary side of things with pastels, smoked meats and arepas, while HQ Group’s main cocktail shaker, Tom Younger, fills the menu with flavours like passionfruit, guava and acai. Together, they’ll help bring more of Brazil onto the playful island while still playing strongly to Melbourne’s exacting tastes.

We think those frozen mango batidas will be the drink of choice for Melbourne all summer long.

Reservations are already open for Afloat’s 10th season, so get in quick and soak up at the heart of the CBD right on the Yarra River. Bookings are highly recommended and can be made online at Afloat Melbourne.
