Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Queensland, with Warner Bros. Movie World’s upcoming Wizard of Oz precinct

Gold Coast theme park Warner Bros. Movie World will be putting the ‘Oz’ in The Wizard of Oz, with a brand new precinct themed around the classic film set to open in 2024. Taking over the space previously occupied by the Arkham Asylum coaster (some may also remember it as Lethal Weapon – The Ride), the family-friendly area will feature two major rides and plenty of immersive theming.

The multi-million dollar area will include a suspended coaster and a boomerang racer, with a focus on low height and age restrictions to ensure the whole family can take a turn. Concept art shows Dorothy’s Kansas farmhouse as the site of the boomerang racer, and no prizes for guessing the theme of the coaster over at the Wicked Witch of the West’s castle! Flying monkeys anyone?

The design also shows Munchkinland, Oz, and, of course, the Yellow Brick Road itself.

Forget “there’s no place like home” – come 2024, this world-first precinct will ensure there’s no place like Movie World! For updates, keep an eye on the Movie World website HERE.
