Brisbane’s epic BBQ Festival is back and bigger than ever

Following the success of last year’s sold out event at Wandering Cooks in South Bank, the Brisbane BBQ Festival will return to the city on Saturday July 2, bringing with it an almost overwhelming amount of things to do.

This year’s Festival boasts a lineup bigger and badder than before with BBQ big hitter and TV personality Jess Pryles along for the ride. Jess will be one of many, dishing up trade secrets that’ll have you licking your lips. There will also be live BBQ demonstrations from Hillbilly Wes of Sydney’s Bovine and Swine and from local BBQ legends at Bella BBQ, That BBQ Joint and more.

Organisers have turned up the heat for this one with local BBQ blokes, The Shank Brothers, just one of the teams set to bring their A game to this festival’s competition. Sanctioned by the Australasian BBQ Alliance, the 2016 Brisbane BBQ Championships will see 42 teams, 24 of them from interstate, show off their top grilling skills for over $12 000 worth of prizes. The teams will each slow cook their food overnight before presenting to the judges on the day of the Festival.

You will be able to sample mouth-watering BBQ bites from a range of pop up vendors on the day including, Brisbane foodie favourites Ze Pickle, Sydney’s real deal Rangers Texas BBQ and Mr America Hot Dogs and Fries. Of course, you’ll be able wash it all down with a cold one from Brisbane’s two favourite local craft breweries Newstead Brewing Co and Fortitude Brewing.

The festival will be held at the Brisbane Showgrounds in Bowen Hills and will feature meat and BBQ Exhibitions with a market stall vibe. There will be no shortage of entertainment throughout the day, with fresh sounds from The John Steel Slingers, local rockabilly band the Hi Boys, and Big Blind Ray.
