“BLOOM” gin launches in Australia: gin made with chamomile, honeysuckle, and pomelo

London’s premium BLOOM Gin has finally made its way from the U.K to Australia this year, entering the competitive market via a partnership with Sydney Film Festival. As the annual film festival nears a close for 2016, BLOOM have been working hard to make an impact on the events large fan base, many of whom have enjoyed easy access to BLOOM cocktails at the Festival Hub bar in Lower Town Hall.

Perhaps most notable is the use of chamomile and honeysuckle in the Gin, a recipe inspired by nature and produced by Master Distiller Joanne Moore, the world’s first female gin Master Distiller. The result is an incredible light, floral, and aromatic gin that works particularly well with simple cocktails like – of course – a G&T and a Negroni. The third main botanical used for BLOOM – the citrus fruit pomelo – adds a refreshing character to the gin which comes out mainly on the finish while the floral notes are lifted heavily in the nose and palate, communicated well by the perfume and earthy aromas.

BLOOM Gin is distilled in the oldest gin distillery in the UK, where they have been producing the world’s finest gin since 1761. G&J Distillers have enjoyed a superior reputation for decades, so BLOOM’s entry into Australia is a very welcome addition to the already strong scene across the country.

With a Double Gold at the San Fransisco World Spirits competition following BLOOM around, the gin is well positioned to be a major competitor down under. The gin is currently retailing for $69.90 in 700ml bottles (ABV 40%). More information can be found HERE.
