Based just outside of Toronto in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada’s Wonderland has more roller coasters than any other theme park in Canada. In fact, as of this week, it’s tied for third place with Cedar Point for having the most roller coasters anywhere in the world. And that’s thanks to their 18th and latest coaster, AlpenFury, which opened this past Saturday (July 12th) after months of anticipation.
The coaster itself sets a number of records. First, it features two launches and nine inversions, which is the most for any launch coaster in the world. It’s also the longest, tallest and fastest launch roller coaster in Canada.
The coaster is built into and around the pre-existing mountain that sits at the entrance of the park, as well as the coasters and attractions that already occupy the space.

Here’s what the press release says about the experience that riders will be taken of when they jump on the coaster:
When fire and ice meet inside the mysterious Wonder Mountain, the force will propel guests into a thrilling journey on AlpenFury, the park’s 18th roller coaster. It begins with a launch that blasts riders into the depths of the mountain, followed immediately by a second that sends the train vertical through the mountain summit, 50 metres into the sky. Guests will then race across a track that spans the park, reaching speeds of 115 km/h, flipping and twisting through nine breathtaking inversions – the most in the world for a launch coaster.
And here’s the official POV released for the experience:
