A week full of cheese appreciation events has kicked off in Sydney

For those who really, really like their cheeses (that is, everyone) & Cheese is a new, currently running, week-long event coming straight to Sydney with the help of The Australian Specialist Cheesemakers’ Association (ASCA). The cheese-loving body have hooked with some of the best producers and venues across Sydney to put on a series of ticketed cheese-focused events from now right up until Wednesday 7th June.

And rather than just stick with the expected, some of these events are designed to showcase the many, many different possibilities of cheese, including pairings with gin, coffee, beer and the age-old classic combination – wine. These different pairings will take place across five different events, positioned all around town from Newtown to Alexandria and Redfern to Annandale.

Kicking things off is a wine and cheese night at Cake Wines in Redfern with free entry as well as a number of pairings available to purchase on the night. The week will wrap up with a Gin & Cheese pairing hosted by Moya’s Juniper Lounge, making good use of gins supplied by homegrown heroes Four Pillars. Other highlights include a “how to make the perfect cheese board” masterclass held at Tramsheds, an interesting coffee-cheese pairing at Mecca Coffee, and a beer-cheese pairing night at Young Henrys.
