3 events you don’t want to miss at Sydney Opera House’s All About Women

All About Women Festival line-up is out and talking about equality never gets old. Returning to the Sydney Opera House on March 10 with an incredible line up of talks and workshops in honour of International Women’s Day (March 8th), All About Women showcases both established and up-and-coming voices in the equality space.

With topics ranging from fast fashion to rethinking pornography, this year’s festival is guaranteed to challenge ideas and inspire action. As someone who has attended the festival for many years, here’s my top 3 picks for the day!

Follow the Leader

Not everyone needs to be a leader. Challenging ideas about what it means to follow, Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah (she/her), Aja Barber (she/her) and Angela Tiatia (she/her) will discuss the importance of white feminism to take a step back and support women of colour embracing leadership. More info HERE.

Daddy Issues

The paid parental leave scheme came into effect more than 10 years ago, yet men are still only taking 12% of primary carer’s leave. Osher Günsberg (he/him) and Sean Szeps (he/him) will discuss reasons around why this might be, in a conversation that will span mental health, the challenges of parenting and being a queer dad. More info HERE.

Play the Girl

Clementine Ford (she/her) and Libby O’Donovan (she/her) will use music, costumes and a bit of magic to help you reconnect to the little girl you once were. The one who knew she was enough. The one who knew she could conquer the world – alone. Based off Ford’s latest book, I Don’t: The Case Against Marriage, this talk will remind you that you are the hero of your own story. All About Women will take place on 10th March 2024 at the Sydney Opera House. To see the full schedule and book tickets head to the Sydney Opera House website. And be quick – some events are already booked out!
